Weekend in San Antonio

Dave, Angie and the girls arrived on Wednesday from Omaha.  At 6:00 on Friday morning we caravanned to San Antonio for Betsy and Joel wedding on Saturday afternoon.  We stopped at 7:30 Friday morning in West, TX for Kolaches and coffee at the Little Czech Bakery.

Next stop was in Lockhart,TX for lunch. We arrived at 11:00 and walked around the town square for a while and then we ate BBQ.  Lockhart, TX has been featured on the Food Network show of Dives, Diners and Drive Ins.  They are the famous for their BBQ. 

A beautiful Court House stands in the center of the town square.

We had BBQ brisket at Smithy's.

Busy June

I can't really tell you where the month of June has gone. I have been busy golfing and crafting.  Trying to get some things done for the Bazaar in November but the garage is heating up so don't know how much longer I can stand it out there.  I do have a couple of fans and they really help.

This is one of my new signs for the Bazaar.  I can't wait to put one in my front yard this December.

I have my firecrackers setting in front of the house on a bench.  We are ready for the 4th of July!

I also made some more alphabet boards.  The first ones were green.  I like the red also.  

I have to run my tee time is 7:45.  

I have more to show you so I will continue this blog later.

We have new neighbors!!!

The Mourning Dove is a member of the dove family . The bird is also called the Western Turtle Dove or the American Mourning Dove or Rain Dove, and formerly was known as the Carolina Pigeon or Carolina Turtledove. It is one of the most abundant and widespread of all North American birds. It is also the leading game bird, with up to 70 million birds shot annually in the U.S., both for sport and for meat. Its ability to sustain its population under such pressure stems from its prolific breeding: in warm areas, one pair may raise up to six broods a year. Its plaintive woo-OO-oo-oo-oo call gives the bird its name. The wings can make an unusual whistling sound upon take-off and landing, and the bird is a strong flier, capable of speeds up to 88 km/h (55 mph).

Mourning Doves are light grey and brown and generally muted in color. Males and females are similar in appearance. The species is generally monogamous, with two squabs (young) per brood. Both parents incubate and care for the young. Mourning Doves eat almost exclusively seeds, but the young are fed crop milk by their parents.  Below is a picture of the two little squabs that were born Saturday or Sunday.  I will take more pictures as they get older.

May was a sad month

We traveled to Iowa twice this month within a week and a half for two funerals.  The first was for a"Celebration of Life" held on May 13th for our Brother in Law, Chuck Malm in Breda, Iowa.  Then on the 22nd of May, Pat's Mother, Mary Jo Fitzgerald passed away in LeMars, IA. Following are pictures from the Tuesday night Irish wake and the funeral on Wednesday.

A Sad Day for the Seifried Family

We traveled to Breda, IA on Friday.   Chuck Malm. my brother in law, had passed away on Wednesday May 11th.  Chuck fought a loosing battle with Cancer.  It was a wonderful service and so many people attended.  Pictures following were taken at the house after the service.

Happy Anniversary Marcia & Colin!

Last night we were invited to my sister Marcia & Colin's 40th Anniversary party.  Cody and her husband, Dave, hosted the party with the help of her two brothers and their wives.  Dave, Cody, Hudson and Harrison live in Keller, TX.  The sit down dinner of lasagna, salad, bread and two very delicious desserts was wonderful.  The evening started with Champagne, Wine, Beer and plenty of appetizers.

Left to right are Marilyn, Marcia, Colin & Tommy.  Marilyn and Tommy were next door neighbors to Marcia and Colin when they lived in Texarkana, Tx many years ago.  

They now live in Grapevine, TX.

This is Corey and his youngest son, Thomas.  Corey and Kathryn, Jack, Anna Claire and Thomas live in Houston, TX.  It was wonderful seeing them.  

Second son, Chad with Rylea.  Chad, Allison and Rylea live in Keller, TX. 

This is daughter Cody with her youngest Harrison.  Following are pictures of the evening.  Enjoy!

Allison, Chad, Colin and Marcia.  They are accepting a gift of a cruise from their kids.  Now to decide where to go for the cruise.  We suggested Alaska but someone suggested the Northeast and I would vote for that also. 

Corey grabbed Harrison but as you can tell he was anxious to get down and go play with the others.

They extended their dining room table with the kitchen table.  There were 10 of us for dinner. The kids all ate in the kitchen at their own table.  I wish I would have snapped a picture of the kids table. Also wish I would have had someone take a picture of Pat and me.  I have to do that next time. 

It was a very special evening.  Here's to many more years of wedded bliss!!!
