Labor Day Celebration

 We entertained Deb, Kevin, Steve, Tre' and boys, Ange and Sage, 

and Michael and Theresa Sunday evening.  

The star of the dinner was the Beer Can Chicken.  

It was so tender and delicious! 

 Along with the chicken we had a lettuce salad, cheesy potatoes, baked beans

 and Rhodes Texas Rolls with Homemade Pear Butter.  

Deb also brought a wonderful appetizer of marinated shrimp.  

Dessert was cake and ice cream along with my new Iced Coffee recipe that I found on Pinterest.  http://cravingcomfort.blogspot.com/2011/07/last-iced-coffee-recipe-youll-ever-need.html  

We added a little Frangelica to it.

 Last week I made this wine cork reindeer ornament.  

He can't wait  to be hung on the Christmas Tree!

 Once I started I could not stop.  They are ready for the church bazaar.

  I also made a few of these boxes for the holidays.  

Turkey day will be here before we know it.  

 I can't wait to eat Turkey and enjoy a piece of pumpkin pie and whip cream.

 From the reindeer I went to the wine cork Christmas trees.

This little snowman is made from a clothes pin. 

 I found him in a thrift store this summer and thought he would be fun to make.

Anniversary Brunch

Lemonade Pie

 I made this pie for our anniversary.  It is called Lemonade Pie.  So refreshing and delicious!!!

The recipe is:

                         LEMONADE PIE

1 C. country time lemonade mix

1 can eagle brand condensed milk

1 16 oz tub cool whip

mix lemonade mix and condensed milk really well.  

fold in whip cream

pour into graham cracker pie crust.

Refrigerate until set.  

Enjoy!!!

Wedding Anniversary

 Pat took me to lunch at our neighborhood pub to start our celebration!

 First stop after lunch was the jewelry store for two Pandora beads.  Thanks Pat, for my gift.

 He also surprised me with a new watch!!!

 We went to the movie "Hope Springs" at 4:45 and then to Artins for dinner.  It was a great day.

Pepper Smash

Monday we met Marcia and Colin in Plano for lunch at a new restaurant called Pepper Smash!  

Their menu is a comic book.

Marcia wanted to go to IKEA in Frisco to look for shelving for her upstairs bathroom.  I wanted to go to IKEA for napkins.  I found the napkins but she did not find any shelving that she liked.  Marcia ended up getting a bookshelf for her sewing room.  It was great having lunch with them.  

Today is our anniversary and we are going to the movie "Hope Springs" and then out to dinner.

Basil

My basil bush.

I love the smell of basil.  Have you ever tried frying it.  It is so easy.  Just olive oil in a pan and in seconds it is done.

use a slotted spoon to take out of the oil and then sprinkle it with salt.  This time I sprinkled it with a little garlic salt.  Yummy!!!!

I found a recipe that said to coat with a flour and water mixture and then drop in the oil.  The coating did not stick very well as you can see.  It was still yummy but does not look that great.  Thanks for stopping by...
