We are ready for the New Year and a blast of cold air.  BRRR

My sister made this for me a couple of years ago.
More Snowmen including some made from Salt Dough.

Alphabet Quilt

I found this Alphabet Quilt pattern on line and decided to make it.  It was fun using up all my scraps.
I also made a t-shirt quilt for my granddaughter.
I will post a picture of that quilt later.
I am looking forward to the cooler weather coming this week.

Great Company and Good Food!

Rich and Debbie from Omaha flew into McKinney on Friday afternoon in their new plane.
Friday night we had dinner at Jasper's on Legacy.  Appetizers were Maytag Blue cheese Chips!
They were delicious and I don't even like Blue Cheese.

Saturday morning Debbie and I went to Downtown McKinney to shop.  We found an interesting craft.  We took a picture, then met the guys at "Cadillac Pizza" in downtown McKinney.  We went home and painted birds.  I love them!
 More birds on Slate.
I have this one sitting in front of my kitchen sink.
Saturday eve we drove over to Adriatica and had a drink at "Harry's on the Harbor"
before going back to our house to prepare dinner.
We had risotto with Salmon and Cod.
It was a great weekend.
Monday I got busy in the garage since the weather was cool.
I acquired this chair and the planter below from a friend.
I painted a saying on the chair back and touched up the plant hanger with paint and new flowers.
We hung it on the wall on our patio.  The chair has a place in my laundry room.

Building Country Cottages

I have been building houses here in Texas.  .
I am appliqueing vines, stars and berries onto the border.
I just have to make the berries and then
I will be ready to sit in front of the television and stitch.
This is a picture of one of the houses up close.
The fabric is homespun.  The block size is 12 1/2 inches.
I like the red roof on this house and who
doesn't like shutters on the outside of a house below.
It is raining here today so it is a good day to sew!

Busy Week!!!

Marlene arrived on the Tuesday and we started cooking Corned beef and cabbage on Wednesday for my girls club. We had 9 at the table that evening.  Thursday we prepared appetizers for 23 members of our "Dinner Out" club who arrived at 5:30 for cocktails.  Then we all went to dinner at the neighborhood Irish Pub.  Friday  night we attend a Celtic Program at the Allen Library and Saturday we cooked again for the Family St. Patrick's day dinner of Corned Beef and Cabbage.
We spent lots of time in the kitchen this week.

Two of my favorite people, Deb and Marlene,
celebrating Thursday night with the Dinner Out Group.

  On Monday, St. Patrick's Day,

we went to lunch at the "Irish Rover" in Frisco, TX.

Marlene and Theresa joined us at the Irish Rover for lunch on St. Patrick's Day.
The beer and food were delicious!

Monday night we went to "Delaney's" for a beer and more Irish food.

Marlene brought a couple of projects with her.
We put together two small quilts.

A close up of the Race cars.

 Second race car quilt completed.

Some little boy is going to enjoy wrapping himself up in this quilt.

Backside of my "Quilt As You Go" quilt.

The back of my quilt is almost as pretty as the front.
 I really enjoyed this project.
Today is Ash Wednesday - the start of Lent.
So this morning I went to Mass for my ashes.
Now on to the grocery store, post office and to
Walgreens to get my booster pneumonia shot.

Quilt As You Go project

I found this pattern on the internet and
decided it would be great for using up my scrap fabrics.
The squares are 9 1/2 inches.  Stars and Stripes
The backside of the quilt is colorful also.
Lattice to connect the blocks on the backside is a colorful multi stripe.
Lattice to connect the blocks on the frontside is a royal blue.
I am anxious to complete this quilt because golfing will be starting in a couple of weeks.

Valentine Day gifts!

I had these wooden hearts that I found at Michaels Craft
Store last year after Valentine Day for a song!
Saw this project on pinterest.
This is a close up of the heart.
First I covered the wooden heart with scrapbook paper.
Then I got out my scrabble letters and glued LOVE onto each heart.
I added old keys and a couple of bows.
On this larger heart, I added a small heart along with a key, scrabble letters and bows.
