Basil

My basil bush.
I love the smell of basil.  Have you ever tried frying it.  It is so easy.  Just olive oil in a pan and in seconds it is done.
use a slotted spoon to take out of the oil and then sprinkle it with salt.  This time I sprinkled it with a little garlic salt.  Yummy!!!!

I found a recipe that said to coat with a flour and water mixture and then drop in the oil.  The coating did not stick very well as you can see.  It was still yummy but does not look that great.  Thanks for stopping by...

Cross Stitch quilt

I am in the process of taking all my cross stitch samplers and putting them into a quilt.
I am going to back the each sampler with a light fusible
and then start doing the math to put the lattice work between each piece.
Wish me luck!!!!

Pears

A couple of weeks ago I went over to Steve and Tre's house to pick these beautiful pears from their tree.  All this week I have been canning them.

I made Pear Chutney - Use as a relish with lamb or ham or as an appetizer with cream cheese and crackers.

Then I made a batch of Pear Butter - It’s excellent spread on toast or biscuits. Dollops of it can be added to yogurt, cottage cheese or to hot cereals like oatmeal
I also canned 11 quarts of pears to use with Cottage Cheese or in jellos

I am thinking that a couple jars in a basket will  make some school teachers a great Christmas Gift!!!

Fitzgerald Dinner

We all went to Ange and Sage's house for dinner recently.

Ange made her famous Beer Can Chicken.  They were so plump, juicy and yummy!!!!

These pears are from Steve and Tre's backyard tree.
I have canned 11 quarts of pears and made 15 half pints of pear chutney.
I still have some pears on my kitchen counter and I am going to make pear jam.
Steve, Tre' and the boys left for Nebraska yesterday to visit Tre's side of the family.
They were looking forward to having a great time in Fremont.
We will see them back here in McKinney next week.
