Snowmen

It was cold and snowy when I took down the Christmas decorations
so I decided to put out the Snowmen for January.
I can tell you where I got each one.
Deb's Mom made me the gray mitten one on the back left.
A friend in Fremont made the one on the right with the red knitted hat.
The little ones up front  I made from Salt Dough.
This little arrangement is in my Great Room.
Here are 8 more sitting in the niche.
Deb's dad made the tall one on the left in the back.
Another friend of mine in Fremont made me the tall one on the right.
The one on the far left with the colored row of buttons was also given to me by a friend in Fremont.

 So many Snowman.
I am so glad it snowed in McKinney this year and
I was able to get them out of their box and display them.
The snowman on the back counter was given to me this year by my sister Marcia.
The three on the Island I bought from Terry's Treasures a couple of years ago.
It is still unseasonably cold for us today.   My snowmen won't melt!!!

A White Christmas

On Christmas Day it started raining around 6 AM.
We got 2 inches of rain and then it turned to snow around 2 PM.
We received 5 inches of wet snow!
Ange's car sitting in the driveway!
The doors were frozen shut so when she got ready to leave the day after Christmas
her Dad had to pour hot water on them
so she could pack up the car and head back to Dallas for work.
A cold seat on the Patio.
We  have the heater ready to light...
A toast to the WHITE CHRISTMAS with a glass of champagne and pomegranate seeds.
 Happy New Year!

Old Christmas light bulbs

We have  "Steve the Fireman"  who lives in our neighborhood
come every year to put up the outside lights on our house.
I asked him  if he would save me some burned out ones.
For the next week he would drop off a little box of old light bulbs on my front porch.
He evidently has lots of clients!!!
I saw this idea on  "Pinterest".
So yesterday while Pat was working I sat at the kitchen table crafting.
 Beautiful blue ones.
 Sparkly Red ones.
Gorgeous Green ones.
A lovely glass vase filled with sparkly blue, green, red, gold and purple ones.
I have another box of bigger bulbs that I need to work on.
I am thinking of making a garland for the Christmas Tree!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Ostrich Egg

Last  Saturday I attended a Historical Society Christmas Open House in Anna, TX.
Deb, my sister in law, asked me to join her at the Rattan farm house.
I wish I would have taken my camera because the house was built in 1928
and has passed through 5 generations.
They raise Ostrich along with a slew of other farm animals.  They get 3 to 5 of these eggs every 4 days.
Mrs. Rattan gave me this awesome egg.  I wanted to preserve it like I do my Easter Eggs so
I looked on the internet to see how long I need to boil it.  All the info was to boil it for 90 minutes.
I have a stand in the garage that I am going to put it on to display.
I am thinking of painting something on it.
Here is a little information on the egg.

Though fluffier in texture and a little sweeter in flavor, ostrich eggs taste very similar to chicken eggs. Their yolk is a bright yellow-orange and whips up easily, making it a good choice for baked goods, pastries and egg dishes. One ostrich egg yields 10 to 12 servings of scrambled eggs and makes an omelet that will feed 10 people.
Ostrich eggs weigh 3 1/2 to 5 lbs. each, which is equivalent in volume to two dozen chicken eggs.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Christmas 2012

We put our tree up on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Grandson Sam and Granddaughter Reese decorated it for me.

This is the niche inside the front door.
The tree on the left is decorated with the pasta angels I  made back in 2009.
The Tree on the right has the painted gum balls from Deb's tree.

This year I  made these Christmas trees from book pages.

My favorite Santa sits atop the Stereo Cabinet.

The mantel is hung with stockings!

Ready for Christmas Tea.

A new ornament that I made this year.  Go Huskers!!!

We met my sister and her husband last night for dinner.
This Snowman was my gift from her.  I found the
perfect spot in my Kitchen for him.  Love him!!!
